A WEEKEND TO REMEMBER

This weekend Alex and I were blessed to in the opportunity to attend a FamilyLife "Weekend to Remember" Conference held at the Embassy Suites in Rogers, AR (may 15th-18th). We even got to stay in the hotel and get away from LIFE completely. In the words of Mark Schatzman (one of the speakers) it was like hitting PAUSE on our life....just enough to focus on our relationship with God and each other!

WE HIGHLY RECOMMEND THE CONFERENCE TO ANYONE AT ANY STAGE IN THEIR LIFE.....ANYONE!!!

One of the many things I learned and value is a thought on the statment, "Marriage is 50/50." This is to imply it is a partnership where everyone is to equally give and take. That everyone shares the load and works together. While, impart, that is mostly true so people tend to look at it as, "PK, I see how I have more than done my share but where is my spouse doing their part? I think I can take it down a bit and they can pick up the slack in order to do their half." WHILE the other spouse is thinking the same thing and before you know it, both parties have done their share of backing off and now on one is doing anything!

Now what if instead of things it is a 50/50 partnership, we all thought of it like a chance of service to the ones we love and we GAVE IT ALL WE'VE GOT. Then we take on a new challenge/statement of.

YOU GET WHAT YOU PUT IN!!!
Give it your best and see what happens. Give your best to your husband, besides doesn't he deserve that?! And see what happens. If we are in a consistant Relationship with our GOD (who never leaves nor forsakes us) and we are giving it our BEST, isn't our GOD going to be faithful through your husband to do the same for you?! YES, our God is that BIG!
.....more to come

The 1, 2, 3 of being a Godly Mother

This Sunday, yesterday, was Mothers Day. Robert Cupp share some basic and strong principles we can gain from 3 wonderful women in the Bible.
  1. From Hannah in 1 Samuel 1, we see that a godly mother trust God with her children, Prays to God for her children & deadicates her Children to God.
  2. Mary teaches us in Luke 1:26-33, a Godly Mother humbly submits hersefl to God's Will/Word/Ways.
  3. Eunice shows us in Acts 16, a Godly Mother believes, lives & transmits(passes along) "The WORD" to her children.

What a Blessing and a Legacy we can give our children if we strive to the above for our families and future families.

Marriage tip #3: Honesty is the best Policy...just remember GRACE

Alex and I are still learning to live the first year of married life together with one being in school and there other in full-time ministry.   We did so well in the Fall and then 2009 came.  I wish I could tell you what exactly happened but that is whole other blog.  This one is about how lately I have been not so sure if Alex still desired me.  I knew he did but the verbal confirmation wasn't there and words are one of my love-languages.  So when I calmly addressed the issue in a way I wanted to communicate with Alex and letting him know in the process that I, indeed loved him, it was one of the best talks yet.  It didn't cause a doubt in him about what I was saying, I felt like I was heard and well received and it was a wonderful night celebrate the "successful talk".
The point being, we wives probably has experienced the following at one point or another:  our husbands can be completely a "man's man" and pretty much anyone can say whatever to him and it doesn't matter all that much.....except you.  If you say it, then you can truly cut deep.  We are to be wise with our words and smart on the battles we choice to take on.  Especially when they are under a lot of pressure.  They need to know they do not fail you and they are our knights in shiny armor.  They want to be there for us and if we are not careful, dare even sensitive with grace, we can cause more harm than good....giving Satan just what he wants....to destroy you two.

Marriage Tip #2: Weekend Get-a-ways as AWESOME!!!

Alex and I decided Thursday we would get a hotel room Friday night, ordered in and spent an entire 24 hours isolated with just each other (wink).  The time together, no phones, internet, house to clean, etc....was so great!!!  All we had to concentrate on was each other.  So, getting away is relaxing and renewing.

Marriage tip #1: Time-Management with Date Nights

For the most part of life, time management wasn't all that complicated.  There was school and work to fit in after Church, family and friends.  It all fit and worked out.  Married life and time management seems to be a WHOLE other story.  It's like when you are getting ready in the mornings... if you have too much time to get ready then you get side tracked or loss track of time while filling in extra time you have.  BUT then all the suddenly you have too LITTLE time to get ready and then your rushing to catch up.  OR if you over sleep, you rush to get ready and somehow get it all done just in time to leave (even though you were short on time).  The same goes for married life.  It is simply amazing how an empty week can quickly be consumed by a yes here from Alex and a yes here from me.  Before you know it, you've gone Monday to Sunday in just a few short hours....or so it seems like.
Time is so precious and I value every moment Alex and I can get together.  That's why I love our Sunday nights.  We sit aside either Friday or Saturday night for DATE night and then Sunday nights we have a NO PLAN POLICY.  We don't make any plans with anyone or for anything so we can rest (as you suppose to do on Sundays) and then time together!  It is DEFINITELY something every married couple should do...to have at least 2 nights a week set aside for you and your spouse only.  And at LEAST one should never more or be compromised.  It truly is a great commitment to  make to your spouse.
